Featured Artist of the Month

Shannon Owo Webb

Shannon “owo” Webb was born and raised on the island of Oʻahu in Hawaiʻi. There she attended the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa and graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree focusing in ceramics. In 2023, Shannon received a Master of Fine Arts degree at the University of Montana. She is currently a Long Term Artist in Residence at the Red Lodge Clay Center.

My art centers around my mixed race identity as someone who is half Korean and half white. I never felt like I could truly be either, so I embraced the in-between. It is a vague realm that I seek to solidify not only through an art practice, but through a life practice. I recontextualize Korean folktales, mythology, and customs based on my lived experiences. The result is a personalized narrative that is both familiar and uniquely my own.
