Allison Fawcett
In a society of mass production, I encourage the users of my pots to slow down in their day to day lives to consider how their meal was produced, and in turn, how it will be served. I believe in the importance of knowing where your food comes from since it is so often taken for granted. I’m focused on the evident relationship between food and pottery, and the disconnection that can occur between their origins and final products. My work revolves around the ritual of a meal, including the preparation, serving, and display of food, as well as table adornment. The patterns on my pots are derived from plant and food growth specific to the object’s function. My inspiration comes directly from the research of plants grown for food and drink, as well as the flora around me at any given time. The process of making each form with its own unique pattern is essential in my search for individuality, while maintaining unity as a set.

The themes of beauty, memory, and subjective perception are ever present. Kunde's concern with paint handling accounts for the variety of his works. Large scale floral works that incorporate a strong sense of abstract composition, carefully rendered still-lifes that revel in their study of color and light, and diverse imagery culled from various media are approached with methods individual to each.
