My artwork is about the local landscape observed over time. It reflects my personal experiences related to the ever changing environment that surrounds me. The time of day, time of year, the seasons, the weather, the quality of the air, all create new variations in my perception and understanding of nature. I research and dig deeper into what I witness, gaining more knowledge as a part of my creative practice. This process is the foundation upon which each painting is built.

I am interested in botany, ecology, and environmental protection for the future of our planet. As I take in the beauty of nature I also note explosions of invasive plants and see plastic particles washing down stream. I reflect on this paradox by depicting the beauty and fragility of nature. While caught in a state of contemporary environmental flux, it breaks and it heals. I hope and trust in the resilience and regenerative power of nature to endure.
