There is alchemy in abstract art. To provoke thoughts about art that is visible yet incomprehensible has magic unto itself. Both artist and viewer experience emotion and extract connections perhaps seen but not yet understood.
Investigating the process of abstract art as a bridge between the task-oriented brain (conscious) and the imagination (sub-conscious) results in continuous discovery. Visuals emerge as a result of imagination and departure. My process allows me to continually pause and interpret dialogue between artist and painting. Impression overshadows realism.
Inspiration for my work is derived from a perceptual landscape. Color, shape and line create depth and movement. Textures and layered surfaces are influenced by extensive study of textiles and patterns.
